 I would like to share with you something about health and fitness. Many people think that health means fitness. However, I think there are some differences between them.According to the interpretation of World Health Organization, being healthy means a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity whereas being fit means the state of being physically active on a regular basis to maintain good physical condition.As far as I am concerned, there is a close relationship between health and fitness. It is because keeping your body healthy is the key of acquiring fitness.

It is vitally important for us to be healthy and fit because it helps us to achieve a good quality of life, for example, achieving the goal in life. For me at the moment getting a good result in the UE exam and successfully get admission to university is of utmost importance, whereas for others having a good relationship with family and friends is their top priority. If we just care for our beauty by taking an unbalanced diet, we will lack nutrition and energy and become sick, then affecting our daily routine.

It is alarming that Hong Kong students are becoming less energetic, less fit and less healthy than before. If this continues, the society will certainly be affected because of the low productivity. So, it is high time for us to be aware of this phenomenon.

To alleviate the worsening situation, students should pay more attention to their diet. They should eat more vegetables, less meat and oily food. Besides, although teenagers may face a lot of homework and examinations, we still need to have enough time to sleep. They should participate in more sports, such as jogging and playing basketball or tennis on a regular basis. I am sure developing the habit of playing sports will be more interesting if they do so with friends.

Health and fitness are always the most precious assets that we should always treasure. When polled about important social values, 99 percent of adults in the United States identified “being in good health as one of their major concerns. Two other concerns expressed most often were good family life and good self- image. The one percent who did not identify good health as an important concern had no opinion on any social issues. Among those polled, none felt that good health was unimportant. Results of surveys in Canada and other Western nations show similar commitments to good health.

Physical fitness is the body’s ability to function efficiently and effectively. It is a state of being that consists of at least five Health-related and six skill-related, physical fitness components, each of which contributes to total quality of life.

Physical fitness is associated with a person’s ability to work effectively, enjoy leisure time, be healthy, resist Hypokinetic Diseases, and meet emergency situations. It is related to, but all people can benefit from enhanced wellness. Wellness And an improved quality of life are possible for everyone, Regardless of disease states. Evidence is accumulating to indicate that people with a positive outlook are better able to resist the progress of disease and illness than those with a negative outlook. Thinking positive thoughts has been associated with enhanced results from various medical treatments and better results from surgical procedures. Because self-perceptions are important to wellness, positive perceptions of self are especially important to the wellness.
